THE CHALLENGES

1. How might we integrate digital health solutions into our daily lives so that patients can understand, identify and monitor their health conditions?

Access to healthcare solutions in a globalized world shall not be a challenge but taken for granted. Advanced technologies, a growing population, and new policies will change the way we enable and consume healthcare in the future. Now is the time to converge all these factors together and make them part of our daily lives - invisible, accurate, and data-protected. Disease areas such as Heart failure, Chronic Kidney disease (CKD), Diabetes, and Mental Disorders (Schizophrenia, Depression, etc.) are highly dependent on our lifestyle and environment. Devices especially outside of traditional healthcare channels to monitor early signs of these diseases with digital biomarkers (voice, smell, eye gaze, digital phenotyping, etc.) are on the rise and can be leveraged in everyday environments to support the healthcare system and provide increased access to healthcare.

2. How might we better predict and respond to climate change-related health challenges?

Climate change leads to various environmental changes, such as extreme weather events, rising temperatures, and air pollution. These changes can have direct and indirect health impacts, including heat-related illnesses, respiratory diseases, infectious diseases, mental health issues, and more. Poor air quality resulting from increased pollution and wildfires, often linked to climate change, can lead to respiratory problems and exacerbate chronic health conditions. Develop apps or devices to monitor air quality, provide health advice based on real-time data, or create interventions to reduce health impacts in communities.

THE PROGRAM AT A GLANCE

It all begins with an idea. Our structured program allows for creativity to flourish to accelerate the pace of innovation in healthcare amongst young, bright individuals. We believe cross-disciplinary teams, mentorship from academia and the industry, skill-building workshops and an open-minded environment are vital for success.

OUR COMMITMENT TO ACCELERATE INNOVATION

We are committed to equipping young future leaders with the resources to act as agents of change and contribute to sustainable development globally.

While young entrepreneurs face serious headwinds setting up their businesses, particularly in scaling, Asia’s 18-34-year-olds have one of the highest start-up rates in the world, with around 40% creating jobs for others. However, the tech revolution is still just a glimmer on the horizon for many businesses in the region: only 1.3% of entrepreneurs (of all ages) said that their nascent firm was hi-tech or medium-tech.

Fuel Asia's mission is to catapult the new generation of entrepreneurs into a world of tech and sustainability, and raise awareness around achieving the UN SDGs through innovation. Leveraging data to drive valuable patient centric solutions in Healthcare and making our cities smarter contributes strongly to this mission.
